El Comité Cívico Ecuatoriano de New York realizó con éxito la presentación oficial de las candidatas a Reina 2025 de su institución, en una gala que combinó talento, emoción y orgullo cultural. El evento se desarrolló en un ambiente vibrante y acogedor, donde el público pudo conocer de cerca a las jóvenes aspirantes que buscan representar a la comunidad ecuatoriana en esta ciudad.

En total, 13 candidatas —tanto en categoría juvenil como adulta— se presentaron ante los asistentes para demostrar no solo su presencia escénica, sino también sus talentos personales: canto, dibujo, danza, oratoria y más. Algunas nacieron en Estados Unidos y ya tienen estudios superiores y experiencia laboral. Otras compartieron conmovedores testimonios sobre su reciente llegada al país y las barreras que han enfrentado como inmigrantes.

Una de las escenas más representativas fue la de una candidata concentrada frente al lienzo, mientras pintaba en vivo una obra de arte que reflejaba su identidad. También se destacaron interpretaciones musicales, pasarelas elegantes y coreografías culturales que evocaron tradiciones ecuatorianas.

Dannelyn Lascano, Gabriela Apolo, Alicia Peralta, Emely Quizhpi, Lizbeth Morocho.

Candidatas Adultas:
Jhoselyn Sanango, Paola Encalada, Leslie Calle, Joselin Tobo, Pamela Vera, Amelia Lazo, Dannahy Tixi y Vanessa Peralta.

Las barras de apoyo jugaron un papel clave: con carteles, aplausos y gritos de aliento, se mantuvieron activas durante toda la jornada, siempre con respeto y energía positiva.

El presidente del Comité, Sr. Oswaldo Guzmán, dirigió unas palabras de agradecimiento al público y aprovechó para invitar a los próximos eventos del verano, incluyendo la gran elección de la Reina, el tradicional Desfile Cívico por la Independencia del Ecuador en Queens y el festival en el parque Flushing.

Durante la velada también se entregaron reconocimientos a colaboradores de la institución, entre ellos Jorge Mena, DJ del evento. La conducción estuvo a cargo del reconocido Franco Galecio, maestro de ceremonias.

Desde mi experiencia como fotógrafo de deportes, cubrir este tipo de eventos representa un reto distinto: luces tenues, destellos de color, ausencia de flash, y la necesidad de esperar ese segundo preciso en el que una expresión o una mirada quedan iluminadas de forma natural. No fue fácil, pero el esfuerzo está reflejado en las imágenes que acompañan este reportaje. Son menos de lo que hubiese deseado, pero suficientes para contar lo esencial.

🎨 Desde cuadros pintados en vivo hasta interpretaciones musicales, coreografías, trajes típicos y pasarelas, cada imagen busca transmitir la esencia de esta velada: una celebración de talento, identidad y comunidad.

The Ecuadorian Civic Committee of New York successfully hosted the official presentation of its 2025 Queen candidates, in a vibrant and emotional event that showcased talent, cultural pride, and community spirit. The venue offered a welcoming atmosphere where the audience had a chance to connect with the young women aspiring to represent the Ecuadorian community in the city.

A total of 13 candidates —in both the youth and adult categories— stepped on stage to highlight not only their stage presence but also their personal talents: singing, drawing, dancing, public speaking, and more. Some were born in the United States and already have academic degrees or professional experience. Others moved the audience with heartfelt testimonies of their recent arrival and the challenges they’ve faced as immigrants.

One of the most symbolic moments came when a contestant painted a live artwork on stage, reflecting her identity and inner world. The evening also featured musical performances, elegant runway walks, and cultural choreographies inspired by Ecuadorian traditions.

The support crews played a key role throughout the evening, cheering with posters, applause, and chants, always maintaining respect and a festive spirit.

Mr. Oswaldo Guzmán, president of the Committee, addressed the audience with gratitude and took the opportunity to invite everyone to upcoming summer events, including the final Queen election, the traditional Ecuadorian Independence Parade in Queens, and the cultural festival at Flushing Meadows Park.

The organization also recognized community contributors during the ceremony, such as Jorge Mena, who served as the DJ for the evening. The event was hosted by the renowned Franco Galecio, a well-known master of ceremonies.

As a sports photographer, covering this type of cultural event presented a unique challenge. The venue’s dim lighting, flashing color effects, and my personal rule of not using flash forced me to pause and wait for the right light to fall on each face. While the number of photos is modest, each was taken with intention and effort to reflect the atmosphere of the event.

🎨 From live painting to musical numbers, choreographies, traditional costumes, and heartfelt smiles, each image strives to capture the essence of this special night — a true celebration of talent, identity, and community.
