Los New York Red Bulls sufrieron una dura derrota 0-3 ante CF Montréal en su segundo partido en casa esta temporada en el Sports Illustrated Stadium de Harrison, New Jersey. The central figure of the afternoon was former Red Bulls player Wiki Carmona, who scored twice against his old club and led Montréal to victory.

The game began in the worst possible way for the home side. Early in the match, Justin Che brought down Iván Jaime inside the penalty area. The referee immediately pointed to the spot, and Prince Owusu calmly converted the penalty in the 8th minute, giving Montréal an early lead.

Like a wounded bull, the Red Bulls pushed forward in search of an equalizer. Several attempts from outside the box forced Montréal goalkeeper Thomas Gillier into action. Gillier proved solid throughout the match, finishing with five saves and securing his first clean sheet of the season.

Just when it looked like the first half would end with a narrow deficit, Montréal delivered another blow. In the 44th minute, Wiki Carmona struck a free kick that deceived both the defense and goalkeeper Ethan Horton, doubling Montréal’s advantage before halftime.
