En una noche donde la tradición y la cultura ecuatoriana envolvieron cada rincón del salón, Amelia Lazo y Aleecia Peralta fueron proclamadas Reina y Reina Juvenil del Comité Cívico Ecuatoriano de New York para el período 2025–2026.

Ambas ya habían sido presentadas ante los medios una semana antes, ocasión en la que compartieron aspectos de su vida y sus aspiraciones como representantes de la comunidad. El certamen se dividió en dos categorías: Juvenil, para menores de edad, y Adulta, para jóvenes mayores de 18 años. Participaron en total 13 candidatas (5 juveniles y 8 adultas), quienes luego de meses de preparación, ensayos y actividades comunitarias, llegaron a la gala final con aplomo, seguridad y orgullo por sus raíces.

Durante la noche se realizaron pasarelas en trajes típicos, vestidos de gala y trajes de baño. También hubo intervenciones artísticas, como una coreografía con vestimenta andina, y momentos emotivos como la ronda de preguntas, donde las candidatas respondieron al azar. Uno de los instantes más conmovedores fue cuando una aspirante, al ser consultada sobre si es más importante la belleza exterior o interior, respondió:

“Gracias a las enseñanzas y al ejemplo de mi madre, quien sacrificó sus sueños para darme lo mejor, he aprendido que la belleza no está en lo que se muestra, sino en lo que se supera. Como inmigrante, he entendido que la belleza exterior puede ser impactante, pero es la interior la que verdaderamente ilumina vidas.”

El jurado tuvo así la oportunidad de evaluar no solo la apariencia y desenvolvimiento escénico de cada joven, sino también su personalidad, actitud y valores.

A pesar de no haber un artista invitado para la tradicional serenata a las reinas, el público mantuvo el entusiasmo en cada presentación, coreando los nombres de sus favoritas y llenando el ambiente de energía. La ausencia de inconformidades o gestos de desagrado confirmó que las decisiones del jurado fueron bien recibidas por todos los asistentes.

La noche culminó con la coronación de las nuevas soberanas, aunque el caos generado por los simpatizantes que subieron al escenario para felicitarlas impidió que la Reina pudiera ofrecer sus palabras de agradecimiento o dar declaraciones a la prensa, un momento que quedó pendiente para otra ocasión.

In a night filled with Ecuadorian culture and tradition, Amelia Lazo and Aleecia Peralta were crowned as Queen and Youth Queen of the Ecuadorian Civic Committee of New York for the 2025–2026 term.

Both had already been presented to the media a week earlier, where they shared their personal stories and aspirations as representatives of the community. The pageant was divided into two categories: Youth, for underage participants, and Adult, for candidates over 18 years old. A total of 13 contestants (5 youth and 8 adults) took part in the competition, having spent months in rehearsals, training, and community presentations. They stepped onto the stage with confidence, poise, and pride in their roots.

The evening featured cultural dances, swimsuit and evening gown segments, and a Q&A round where each candidate answered questions selected at random. One of the most moving moments came during a contestant’s response to whether outer or inner beauty was more important. She said:

“Thanks to my mother’s example and sacrifices—giving up her own goals to give me the best—I’ve learned that beauty isn’t about what you show, but what you overcome. As an immigrant, I’ve realized that external beauty can be striking, but it’s inner beauty that truly lights up entire lives.”

The judging panel had the opportunity to assess not only appearance and stage presence, but also the values, personality, and sincerity expressed by each contestant.

Despite the absence of a guest singer for the traditional serenade, the audience stayed enthusiastic throughout the evening, cheering for their favorite candidates and dancing during intermissions. The decisions of the judges were well received, with no signs of disagreement or unrest.

The night ended with the official crowning of the new queens. However, the excitement of the moment led many friends and family members to flood the stage, which prevented the newly crowned Queen from delivering a thank-you speech or speaking to the media. That moment, though expected, was left pending for another occasion.
